September 2007 MQYHA Minutes


The MQHYA meeting was held Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Equine Center in Jackson.

The following members were in attendance: Clancy Scott, Logan Venus, Amy Guenther, Brooke Ware, Kristy Kaletsch, Abbie Scott, Sabrina Turner, Wyler Burks, Grace Cornett, Alexandra Knopp, Josie Burks.

The meeting was called to order by President Cornett.

The old Business from last meeting was discussed. Mamie Tomlin is our new region 9 director. Youth world went great this year. We would like to THANK Miss Melanie for the stall decorations and coming out there and helping out. The placing at youth world were as follows: Mamie was a semi finalist in the hunt seat and 7th in Equitation. Grace was 23rd in Showmanship & top 20 in equitation. Kristin was 12th in trail. Shelton was 1st in barrels and 9th in stakes. Jake was 13th in poles. Collins was 13th in calf roping. Devan was 8th in stakes. Brooke was 8th in 3 year old mares.

We need to start thinking about year end awards and what we want to offer. Some of the things that were brought up during the meeting was leather halters with name plates, spurs and straps ,and saddle pads. If you think of any more e-mail any of the officers or Mr. Mark.

Also, if there are any rule changes you would like seen done you need to talk to Mark.

We are going to do some Community service projects as it gets closer to Christmas. We will also do some after Christmas. We are thinking about doing one locally and the national one this year for AQHYA. The national one is The Theraputic Riding Program of Warrington Pennsylvania. They also accept donations.

The Y.E.S. Conference is now June 19th -21st .

The November meeting is going to be a big one. We will cover a lot of information. They are not sure yet if we are going to have an October meeting.

The convention is getting closer everyone needs to think about officers.

We need to get the word out to seniors that they can apply for the scholarships. To find more information about this go to the website.

The first motion made to adjourned the meeting was Logan Venus. It was seconded by Amy Guenther. It was closed by President Cornett.

National Service Project 2007:
America's Horse Cares and therapeutic riding program of Warrenington ,PA.

1.     Monetary donations- scholarships contact region directors for the information.
2.     Horse supplies:  body clippers, small clippers, paste wormer, soft brushes, betadine scrub, horse shampoo and conditioner, dry shampoo, gauze 4x4, latex gloves, vet wrap, epsom salt, fly spray-concentrated, lockable rubbermaid container, grand hoof supplement, flex cookies, foint supplements, microtek, davis bell boots all sizes. Office supplies:  high speed computers (new only) Supplies (paper stamps white out ect.) Gift cards to staples, gift cards to costco, Sam's Club, and B.J.'s Lesson Supplies/faculty:   Large wintec all purpose saddle, bungee cords, grass seed, mulch and garden supplies, gift cards to freedom rider or state line tack.
