President Burks called on Melanie Sartain to Give the Scholarship report

Melanie Sartain welcomed Kelsey Andrus to the meeting. She spoke about the Swayze Woodruff Scholarship. Swayze was a member that died of cancer in 1999. She was a very influential leader in MQHYA. Her attitude and and willingness to help others was rare in the horse show circuit. Swayze loved life and the American Quarter Horse and lived every day to the fullest. She never complained or let any one know how sick she really was. Her friends want to keep her memory alive and support the Swayze Woodruff Scholarship. Megan Smith made a motion to make a donation to the Swayze Woodruff Scholarship, Grace Cornett second it. Megan Smith made a motion to donate $400.00 to the Swayze Woodruff Scholarship, Kaylin Vanderwerf second.

Melanie reported:

Wyler Burks and Ashton Myers will recieve the MQHA Scholarship. Money from the Reinsman saddle $1050.00
TS Mcbeath Sales donated $877.00 from the sale of their horse sale catalogs
and $375.00 from the sale of a pony at the Dixie Sale. Total $2302.00

President Burks reported on the "Youth Show" May 6 & 7. Everyone needs to sell at least 2 Sponsorships at $25.00 a class You can get these forms from our web site. REWARD for the person who sells the most!! A Fundraiser was discussed. We will have costume showmanship. Open to any one at $15.00. Workers Lounge is a go. We will need moms to help with this. We need to work at this show!! You will be contacted for a sign up time to work.

Our service project for the Summer will be to volunteer at the Mt Leopards Childrens Ranch.The Ranch is in Madison County and provides disadvantaged children equestrian skills and outdoor activities in a safe and wholesome environment. We will talk about the dates for this at the April Mtg.

Ms Melanie talked about the small fry needing youth mentors. Youth that wanted a Little sister or Clyde, could draw a small fry youth name out of a hat for mentoring opportunites. Youth will write notes of encouragement, and help offer their support at the horse shows.Ex: Decorate Stall for horse shows ect.
