The MQHYA meeting was held, 6:30 p.m., Saturday evening, December 8, 2007 at the Expo Center in Hattiesburg.
The following youth members were in attendance: Kristin Kimble, Clay Arrington, Logan Venus, Clancy Scott, Amy Guenther, Sabrina Turner, Abbie Scott, Kalee McCann, Wyatt McCann, Alexandra Knopp, Clyde Barnes, Courtney Lee, Sara Katherine McDaniel, Meg McDaniel, Kristy Kaletsch, Ivy White, Rebecca Ferguson, Haily White, Loren, Madeleine Bell, Mary Claire Cornett, Reagan Jefcoat, Ryan Kimble, Josie Burks, and Brooke Ware.
The parents of youth members in attendance were: Hope Venus, Melissa Guenther, Liz Turner, Lanita Barnes, Justin Kent, Lynn Scott, Gay McCann, William Kimble, Robert Cornett, Claire Cornett, Joellen Burks, Susan Hendry, J.D. Hendry, Ken Knopp, Heather Knopp, Mrs. Bell, Jimmy White, and Jenny Ferguson. Also in attendance and assisting in the meeting was MQHA President-Elect and Youth Adviser, Byron Switzer.
MQHYA President Cornett called the meeting to order.
This year, the MQHYA Nominating Committee met and chose the slate of officers for the new year. The nominating committee was Josie Burks, Kalee McCann, Brooke Ware, and Jake Errington.
The slate of officers for 2008 as currently submitted are Grace Cornett for President, Kristin Kimble for Vice President, Logan Venus for 2nd Vice President, Alexandra Knopp for Recording Secretary (Declined), and Josie Burks for Reporter.
Additional nominees for any of these offices can be accepted prior to the MQHA Convention Youth Mtg., Sat. Jan. 12, 2008 but must be made prior to the meeting. To have another person nominated you must have a piece of paper signed by that person and turned in to Josie Burks as soon as possible. For 2009 all office nominees will have to made no later than 30 days out from the convention.
The Region Leadership Convention will be in Memphis this year. It is January 18-20. We will be going to Graceland, playing laser tag, bowling, shopping and other activities.
Qualifiers to the AQHA Youth World in Oklahoma City can apply for supplemental funding. Ask Youth Adviser, Byron Switzer for more details.

Rule Changes for expanding the number of qualifiers from Mississippi to the 2008 Youth World were announced. Details can be found in the new rule book. If you would like to know what these are or other pending changes contact Byron Switzer. A motion was made to accept these rule changes. Courtney Lee 2nd the motion to put them into effect.
