Region 9 Championship Show Information
and Regulations
The Region 9 Show is an Approved
American Quarter Horse Association Event and will be conducted in accordance
with the American Quarter Horse Association show and contest rules and
regulations. The Region 9 Show Committee reserves the right to settle all
questions or disputes. As a condition of admission, all participants
unqualifiedly consent to abide by committee decisions.
Entries –

1. All entries must be postmarked by August 1.
A copy of the AQHA Registration papers and a copy of the exhibitors
AQHA membership card must be submitted before entry can be
completed. Full payment must accompany entry form.
2. Entries will not be accepted in classes from AQHA World Show top
ten champions (Open, Amateur, Select or Youth) from the previous
year (2009). Top ten winners can enter classes in which they did not
place at the World Show. (Example: A horse that placed in Junior
Western Pleasure can enter Reining or Western Riding) However, top
ten World Show champions cannot enter the subsequent class.
(Example: A horse that place in 2 Year Old Stallions in 2009 cannot
enter the 3 Year Old Stallion class)
3. Entries must be eligible according to AQHA guidelines. In
addition, entrants must reside in AQHA Region 9 (Louisiana,
Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi). Exception: Should a
youth reside in Region 9 but be showing a horse that belongs to a
relative outside the region, the youth will be allowed to show
pending Region 9 Show Committee approval.
4. Exhibitors are only allowed to show in one region.
5. Hardship Rule – For exhibitors that live outside the region but
wish to show in Region 9, hardship rules and applications are
available on the AQHA web site.
6. Make Checks payable to Region 9 Championship Show. Issuance of a
bad check or credit card in payment of fees will result in an
automatic drop without refund.
7. Working orders will be posted by 6:00 p.m. the day before the
class. Exhibitors must ride in cuts as drawn with the same exhibitor
showing in the preliminary judging and the finals. Late entries
after 6PM will go first in order.
8. Entry Fees are as follows: Open, Amateur, Novice Amateur and
Select = $36; Youth and Novice Youth = $30; 10 and under $20; Roping
Cattle Charge = $15; Working Cow Horse Cattle Charge = $25

Scoring –
|
1. Two judges will judge simultaneously. Scores
will be combined for a composite score. The winner under the
composite score will be declared the class winner. In the event of a
tie, a pre-determined tie-breaker judge will declare the winner. |

Awards –
|
1. An award will be given 1st through 5th place
in all classes to the composite winner
2. An All Around Saddle will be given to division winners in
Amateur; Novice Amateur; Youth; Novice Youth. Award will be based on
overall composite points on a one-horse/one rider basis. To qualify
the exhibitor must show in at least 3 categories and rules of AQHA
will be followed to determine winners. |

Stalls –
|
1. Stall reservations will be assigned on a
first come basis. No stalls will be reserved without payment.
2. Groups or individuals wishing to stall together must send in
stall reservation under one name at the same time. Requests sent in
separately will be considered but not guaranteed.
3. Stall fee is $75 for the show. (Exception: A one-night fee of $45
will be offered to exhibitors that are only showing one day.
One-night stall reservations cannot be combined with other stall
reservations.
4. Horses not stalled are subject to a $10 grounds fee charge.
5. Shavings are available on the show grounds. The Miller Coliseum
prefers to pre-place the shaving bales in the stalls before the
show. Please order your shavings with your entries. During the show
shavings must be paid for at the stall office in the barn when
ordered and cannot be paid at the show office or with entry. |

Camper Hookups –
|
1. Electric and water hookups for campers are
available in two areas at the side of the barns at $25/day.
Reservations requests can be made with entries.
2. Camper reservations will be on a first-come, first served basis. |

Health Papers and Coggins –
|
1. All horses entering the grounds are required
to have a current Coggins test (1 Year). Papers should accompany
horse. Do Not Send them in with entry.
2. Interstate health papers are required for horses travelling from
out of the state of TN. |

Non- AQHA classes - The 9 non-
AQHA classes will be subject to the following rules:

1. The 10 and under (exhibitor age) classes are
open to children not competing in classes that require them to
canter or lope.
2. The All-age Walk-Trot is open to all exhibitors.
3. The Open Cow-boxing is open to exhibitors not showing in the AQHA
Working Cowhorse. |
