Regional Mare Owners


All mares in the states of Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi bred to a stallion in the MQHA Stallion Service Auction program are eligible for nomination. The mare nomination fee of $10 is due January 1st of the foaling year. That fee makes the foal born to the mare that year eligible for life. Class entry fees begin May 15th. Classes include weanlings, yearlings, 2-yr. olds, 3-yr. and 4yr. olds born into the program. All owners and exhibitors of entries must be residents of the listed states members of the Mississippi Quarter Horse Association.

Regional Mare Owners Futurity Rules:

  • ( 1) The Regional Mare Owners Futurity is a program of the Mississippi Stallion Service Auction for foals born to mares in a designated region.
  • ( 2) All mares in the region of Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi owned by residents of these states, and bred to stallions in the MQHA Stallion Service Auction Program are eligible for annual nomination.
  • ( 3) The foal born to a nominated mare is eligible for Regional Mare Owners events at the Mississippi Futurity.
  • ( 4) Nomination of mare is annual. Mare nomination fee is $10 due January 1st of the foaling year. Entry fee will be determined annually.
  • ( 5) The first $10 nomination fee paid January 1st gives the foal lifetime eligibility for all Regional Mare Owners events at the Mississippi Futurity (This includes Yearlings 2-Yr. olds, 3 & 4-Yr. olds). Class entry fees are determined annually and will be published in the MQHA magazine.
  • ( 6) Fees must be paid on time.
    No late entries will be accepted.
  • ( 7) Exhibitors in all RMO classes must be residents of the regional states (Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi).
  • ( 8) Individual class rules are based on AQHA class guidelines. The Futurity Committee of the Mississippi Quarter Horse Association is responsible for any rule changes or interpretation of rules. Decisions made by this committee are final.
  • ( 9) RMO entry may be transferred to new owner provided they are residents of the designated region.
  • (10) Both owner and exhibitor of RMO entries must be RMO entries must be members of the Mississippi Quarter Horse Association.
  • (11) There will be no refunds. Weanlings, yearlings 2-yr. olds, 3-yr. & 4-yr. olds may be substituted (due to the death of the horse and with a veterinarian certificate) provided they are eligible under RMO rules.
  • (12) The amount of added money will be determined annually by the MQHA Futurity Committee.
