Contest is open to any Mississippi High School Senior who plans to attend a Mississippi College or University.

Essay- 50%
Length-
Minimum 1000 words; Maximum 1200 words

Typewritten, double spaced, standard margins, title and author as
heading on first page only,
page number to be centered at the bottom

Recipient
or a representative must be present during the Awards Ceremony at the Dixie National Quarter Horse
show which will be Friday night, February 17, 2012 at the opening
ceremony for the Free Style Reining Show. A travel expense check to the show for the award will be
issued. In the event the recipient is unable to attend the 2011-2012
college session, the award must be relinquished to the first runner up.
Scholarship money will be paid directly to the college or
university that will be attended.
NOTE: This is a PERSONAL ESSAY CONTEST, not a book report or
research paper. Spelling, punctuation and grammar DO count. If an
essay does not meet the scholarship committee’s standards for spelling,
punctuation and grammar, the essay will be disqualified. In the event
the scholarship committee does not receive an essay that meets the above
rules, criteria or standards, the committee reserves the right to
decline to award a scholarship that year.
